Boatsurfers.com is a meeting place for people who like boating. It's all about helping people with boats find crew and people to go out on a trip with, and for those without boats to be able to find a local to take them out.
You can search for like minded people with boats, wherever they are.
You can contact them, and organise to go out on a boating trip with them.
Here is an example of how it works:
Joe lives in Sydney and is travelling to Melbourne next month. Joe would like to go sailing while he is in Melbourne, but he cannot take his boat.
So, Joe goes to Boatsurfers.com and searches for people who are happy to take others sailing in Melbourne.
He requests a trip with a Boatsurfers.com member (Sam), for a specific date. Sam agrees.
Joe and Sam work out the details of the trip between themselves via the Boatsurfers.com website. This includes who is paying for petrol, bringing food etc.
They go out on a trip and afterwards they provide each other with feedback on Boatsurfers.com. This means that if Sam wants to go on a boat anywhere else, people will know that he is a good guy.
We know that you would love to have more excuses to hang the ‘gone boating’ sign up more often!
Think about it, wouldn’t it be great to get out on the water more often?
And how good would it be if you could do that and:
Meet awesome new people who are happy to fillet the fish, wash up your boat or take you to dinner afterwards?
Expand your network of friends?
Create awesome new experiences?
Have the opportunity to go to locations you have not been before, and meet up with locals who know the area?
Be able to meet up with other boat owners to do activities you would not normally do?
You can screen all Boatsurfers who contact you, and if you want to stop receiving requests from Boatsurfers, you just hide your profile for a while!
If you decide that you want more information about someone, or you want to tell them they must clean the fish, that is easily done through the website before you confirm the trip.
If you can’t agree, or it’s not convenient for you, you just cancel the trip. Easy!
Plus, look at the big picture, it would be awesome if you could borrow a boat anywhere in the world whatever you need it for? If you want to help make that happen... you need to be a Boatsurfer!
So back to why should you be on Boatsurfers.com? If you want to meet like-minded people, open up new experiences and opportunities or just simply find a deckhand… you need to be on Boatsurfers.com.
First, you need to search for someone to take you out on a trip.
In their profile, click on "Request a trip". They may not accept your request. But if they do, you will receive a notification that they have accepted your request.
You will then find the trip in the "Events" section. In this area, you can message each other, exchange details, organise a date and more importantly, who is bringing what (food, drinks, gear, etc).
From there you go out, have fun and stay safe!
The vast majority of Boatsurfing experiences are an awesome experience for everyone involved. Taking personal responsibility for your personal safety when on the water, or travelling and meeting others is important. And it's just as important when you're using Boatsurfers.com. We take your safety seriously, and so should you.
Please contact your local authorities first if there is any incident. Afterwards you can contact us to report any safety related incident.
If you have a issue, please contact us. We always communicate in writing so that we have a record of your experience, and our response. This allows us to constantly review our safety systems and be able to improve them.
If you are having problems with other members through the site, feel free to report them using the report user function, located on their profile and also in the events section.
We will warn users for minor infringements such as inappropriate communication, however if we investigate and the user is consistently troublesome, they will be removed from the Boatsurfers.com community.
If there is a threat to your immediate safety, remove yourself from the situation as quickly as possible and report the problem to local authorities. They can help you immediately and document the situation.
All users can leave other users feedback once they have completed a trip together.
We encourage all members to provide feedback, and you can view each members feedback on their profile page, including a rating and specific comments. If the feedback left makes it sound like you wouldn't enjoy a trip with them, try another Boatsurfer!
Even if the member doesn't have a boat, they will still have feedback left about how good they were as crew.
Report the user using our "Report User" function. We will contact them and ask them to stop, and if they persist, we will remove them from the site.
First, contact us and give us your username, or the email you used to sign up with. We will shut down your profile in order to prevent the hacker from accessing it. All your data will be preserved. We'll then work with you to help restore your profile.
Always have a unique, strong password and don't share it with anyone. When checking out from public computers, be sure to sign out, and also ensure you sign out of your Facebook profile if you have linked your accounts.
